Love this bar! I've had so many great times here, I wish I lived closer so I could go in as often as I used to. Great food, cold cold beer and friendly staff. Brandon is an awesome guy with an honest business. I highly recommend stopping by for a beer and a burger next time you're in Baton Rouge!

Too bad you have to give any stars at all. This place SUCKS. That's right: SUCKS. I tried to like it when it first opened, really I did. But the food is HORRIBLE, the atmosphere is about as lame as it could be (unless you're REALLY into sports, I guess), and the clientele is the white-hat-wearing group of Baton Rouge douchebags that chug Bud/Coors/Miller Lite. Walk-Ons has no style or class. The proliferation of this type of place is one of the main reasons Baton Rouge sucks. Avoid it at all costs.

This place is terrible. The only reason to come here is to drink, and there are tons of other bars you can go to with the same crowd. Avoid.

Pardon my nostalgia on this one, y'all. For a while, I didn't want to review Walk-On's because as a former regular, I felt impartial. This place was home for years due to the proximity to my house and work, reasonable drink prices, and delightful bartenders. Unfortunately in the past couple of years, the bartender quality has dropped significantly and I've been introduced to other places out there that have shown me the fancier, non-sports bar, away from LSU side of Baton Rouge bar culture and I've liked it way too much to turn back. In so many words, I've grown up and graduated to pricier drinking. DAMMIT. Even though I'm no longer a regular, Walk-On's still ranks high on my list of sports bars in Baton Rouge, and on baseball or football gamedays, the only better atmosphere is IN THE STADIUM. The drink prices are reasonable and they have a good variety of local beers on tap. The food, although criticized by other reviewers, has always been solid in my opinion. There's nothing fancy about it, but its good bar fare. Spinach and artichoke dip, boudin balls, the ENORMOUS cheese sticks, and the Black and Blue burger are all my personal favorites and warrant a try. They also have the most comically large, ridiculous bloody mary I've EVER seen in the "Breakfast in a Glass". Its a beer stein filled to the brim with Bloody Mary goodness with something like 30 garnishes, most of which are over the top and unnecessary like a slice of American cheese and a boiled shrimp. All of the garnishes donate to this colossal drink's appeal and awesomeness, and of course, healing power the morning after you've had one too many. If you want to watch the game and enjoy some classic bar food, hit this place up, but be aware the service is hit or miss - the main reason that I'm not giving this old faithful 4 stars.

Supporters of Corporate greed!! Walkons crossed the picket lines of my refinery where they are on strike for workplace safety. Walkons completely disregarded our rights and brought cheese to the scab rats in the plant. If you are ANY Union worker or supporter please do not patronize this establishment!!

Mahi-Mahi sandwich was great. Sweet potato fries were good, but they didn't have a special dipping sauce for them which is a pet peeve of mine. Mozzarella "logs" were amazing..marinara was great, but even better with ranch dressing. Turkey burger was good too, with the exception of a soggy bottom bun. Fun scene even for out-of-towners...everyone was super nice, although my team was in no way a threat to LSU. Service was great, although we weren't there on what was considered a busy Saturday.

The only reason it's getting three stars is for service and atmosphere. I could care less about the food, except for the cheese fries, boudin balls, cobb salad, and cookie bowl (which is a meal in itself). Go on an LSU game day and experience it for yourself. Karaoke and Trivia are fun as well...

This small local chain was started by walk-on players to LSU's football team. Whether that legend is real or not, it is still a great place to catch a sporting event in either Baton Rouge or New Orleans. If the sporting event happens to be the Saints or LSU, get there early if you want a table.

Saturday nights scream for the hearts of the youthful and spirited and I fully intended to haunt the evening streets like a modern day Headless Horseman, casting fear upon those who would dare attempt to venture home too early. Mounting my trusty steed à la Honda Civic of the year two thousand and nine, I charged full speed toward Baton Rouge with the haste of a Queen Elizabeth class battleship, fully prepared for engagement; its crew further inspired by the words of Winston Churchill. My destination had been plotted and I assumed full control of my vessel, seated deeply behind the wheel and exuding a cool confidence in command not unlike Captain James T. Kirk. Yelp, the final frontier. My continuing mission: to explore strange, new establishments....to seek out new life and new experiences....to boldly go where no Yelper has gone before! Stardate: 09.15.2012. I docked my ship amongst the other crafts in the tall grass across Burbank Drive and after slightly adjusting my uniform to free it of unwanted creases, I cautiously proceeded to cross the street with both an excited anticipation but also a lingering apprehension. I found that the entranceway to my destination, Walk-On's, was blockaded by many members of the local law enforcement and I was instructed to enter from the left side. As I approached the parking lot, my shaking hand hovering just above my blaster, I came before a large tent. Booming music of what was explained to me by a local as the "ghetto booty shaking genre" was most prevalent within its interior. The lyrics of these traditional weekend songs were incredibly peculiar as a few of the natives located inside the tent availed themselves of the opportunity to be viewed "backing that thang up". My tricorder offered me no additional assistance and it was at that moment that I made it a point to become familiar with this perplexing form of linguistics if I was to spend any great lengths of time in this region. My mission was to rendezvous with a fellow crew member and partake of the establishment's available cuisine. Inside, we found the locals rowdy, indeed! Furiously swinging their beverages, throwing out their chests and bellowing with aggressive tendencies not unlike a Klingon, they appeared to be fixated on several surrounding television screens, which were broadcasting a mystifying professional contest utilizing an oblong ball made of pigskin. Intent on finding a quieter setting more suitable for discussion, my crewmate and I were seated in the rear of the establishment. Delivery of beverages and meals was very, very slow. So slow, in fact, that my crewmate and I witnessed a small Vulcan boy seated before us age to adulthood in the span between beverage orders. After paying the bill and exiting the premises, my crewmate and I found the tent outside alive with the energy of the young natives. We were given a wristband and sucked with the force of a wormhole into the fray! I immediately lost visibility with my crewmate! After multiple attempts to contact her through my Starfleet communicator badge had failed, I struggled to absorb the frenzy of my surroundings! Almost instantly, a native female attached herself to me like a Denevan neural parasite and I wasn't able to shake free! Concerned for my possible failure in adhering to Starfleet's Prime Directive, I had to escape! Fluctuations in the magnetic field surrounding the tent prevented safe transport back to my ship. I dialed my blaster down to "stun" and attempted to fire a warning shot upon the native but her moves were so quick, they were electric! I couldn't lock on target! She had me cornered and threw her art of seduction upon me. Was she looking for a mate?! She grasped me tightly, smearing my uniform with her primitive war paints and several times, attempted to bury her posterior into my lap! A ritual mating dance set to primordial sounds! With the General Order #1 in jeopardy, I lured the native female away with a local alcoholic concoction and fled outside the tent. Free from the disruptive magnetic field, I hailed my ship and immediately beamed back to sickbay for prompt medical attention. I do not know the outcome of my crewmate's circumstances, though unfortunately, I would imagine she had been assimilated into the collective. Final thoughts: Decent food....rowdy, young locals and loud music abound. The choice is yours.

This is tops on my list of horrible service. I went last summer and am just now writing the review, I was that mad. The only reason this is getting a star is because there is nothing lower and what I had of the food was decent (slightly over salted). We went with three kids and 4 adults early knowing it would get crowded later. We were seated in room with nobody else, which was fine with 3 kids, one toddler who wants to roam. We ordered food and appetizers and then waited. After a very long wait the food for the adults arrived, but not the kids' food. There was no indication that the food was coming either. Our waitress went missing, later to find out was hiding, so my sister had to go find the manager. He came over and acted like he couldn't be bothered with our concern and acted like we hadn't ordered any food for the kids. Really? Mom of three completely forgets to order their food? It was grilled cheese for goodness sake. So, I ended up having to walk around with the baby to entertain him since he had no food, and couldn't eat any of my food. When they finally decided that maybe we had ordered food the other adults were all done!!!!! So they brought the food to go, and at this point I wasn't even hungry so I didn't even eat my dinner either. My favorite is that our waitress never came back, saw her hiding in the kitchen when I went to the restroom (you have to walk through the kitchen, weird) AND they didn't offer a discount or anything for our troubles, really???? You don't bring the kids' food and still make us pay for it? I get we got it to go, but the kids wanted to eat with everyone else and the offer would have gone a long way. The place wasn't busy there were tons of people standing around so it wasn't like the kitchen overlooked the order, it was never put in and the waitress flaked and couldn't even say sorry I messed up. Fail on the part of the waitress and management.

I came here the other day. I got some fried pickles and a bowl of duck gumbo with a water. My total was $16+ just for the two which I found to be extremely over priced seeing as I could get the same thing in Tennessee for $9.50 total. The pickles were okay. Some of them were so greasy I couldn't even taste the pickle but the duck gumbo was some of the best I've ever had.

Great afternoon happy hour. If you come for a big sporting event, make sure to get there early. Food is decent but hard to find anything remotely healthy on the menu.

Walk-On's has several locations. It's a restaurant/bar. This review only pertains to the Burbank location in Baton Rouge. On the several occassions I have been there the service has been horrendous. I waited for a waitress that never came- walked out- got no apology from the hostess when I told her I had been waiting 30 minutes and was not even approached for a drink order. The food is mediocre and over-priced. The only thing that saves the restuarant is it's location (near LSU and is probably the only bar LSU fans can walk to on game days).

I've never had cajun food that was flavorless until I came here. The location and atmosphere is its only saving grace.

My first visit to Walk-Ons a few years ago was on a Monday night after an LSU football game. Coach Les Miles was holding court to a SRO crowd in front, while a few tables were available on the back patio for those of us who really only wanted Dinner and a little more intimate fellowship. This place is a favourite of my work colleague, and based on his continued enthusiasm for Walk-Ons (and LSU), I came back for Dinner tonight. LSU fans treat their football seriously, and even on this quiet and soon to be Monday Night Football evening, the multiple TVs were featuring tribute to the loss of Brett Favre's record (297 straight games) and the young student (or thereabouts) waitresses were "fully" dressed in Purple team colours. The Bistreaux itself is an easy walk from the "Death Valley", aka LSU Stadium. Of course I didn't tell them I am a proud Texas Aggie, and as far as the upcoming Cotton Bowl goes - BTHO LSU! I was immediately welcomed when I arrived and was seated in the bar area, where it was nice and warm. I then got really good service from Brooke and her recommendation of Voodoo Bengal (dark, strong, and hoppy) was spot on (and at only $3 a pint). In fact, their draft selection is fairly robust, of which the Bud/Coors/Miller Lite comment in another review is rather puzzling. At Sports Bars such as these, I have pub grub (such as a burger). This time my bleu cheese choice went on the side salad, that was a prelude to a most delicious Blackened Shrimp Creole Alfredeaux (with Linguine). And when the top of my head started sweating, I knew I had a "spicier the better" dish that didn't overwhelm the food. The non-game day ambiance was pleasant and I left full, happy, and welcome. I'm sure I'll be back, especially if I don't have to compete with the Tiger hordes.

Kudos to a class act at Walk Ons!!! Manager Gordon just came by to comp our entire meal for 4, including drinks, since it was taking a while. Once we got the food, it was GREAT - especially the Hangover burger -exactly what we needed after the LSU/ATM game yday!

I would give zero stars if I could. I came with my partner and a male gay couple. We ordered seafood platters and two beer pitchers. Literally, about two minutes after our food came out, the waitress came up and told us we would have to leave because they were closing up. This whole "closing up" thing hadn't been mentioned before this moment. I asked why a table full of people (who appeared to Greek-affiliated college students) weren't being asked to leave. They just repeated we needed to leave. I asked them why they would serve us pitchers of beer and fresh fried seafood, then ask us to leave before we can eat it? Again, we were asked to leave. This was beyond annoying. If you don't want us to eat there, fine. Just don't take our money then kick us out. Btw, we were all conservatively-dressed, young professionals. We weren't singing showtunes, or making eyes at the staff, or anything else objectionable. The only clue we were gay would be our booth seating arrangement and perhaps subtle body language. We are all polite and had been respectful of the waitstaff. As we left, we could see the table full of college students laughing and enjoying their food. Forget these guys- it's not worth it for mediocre food. The brie soup lacks flavor. The fried seasoning is bland, and the angels on horseback taste frozen. For cheaper beer, check out the North Gate area. For a better selection of beer, try The always-friendly Chimes. For tasty Louisiana cuisine at the same price point, try Chimes, Brew-Bachers, Jasmine's on the Bayou, or Chelseas. For a better bar scene, try Ivar's, Duvic's, Chelsea's, or anywhere downtown.

The good: great atmosphere for an LSU sports bar, nice deck, good beer selection, very attractive wait staff and bartenders, $1 beers during certain LSU sporting events The average: the food. my best advice is to keep your order simple. this is not a place to find "real cajun," despite what visiting fans might infer. There are far better options in town for a taste of "Louisiana food." Burgers are always decent though The bad: mixed drinks are typically overpriced (and weak) for a sports bar, the aforementioned attractive waitstaff always seem like they are in a hurry to get you out
(3)
Matt S.
The food there is barely edible. I think they order everything pre-made and just reheat it. The drinks are way overpriced and the wait staff is never attentive. If you're looking for great food and a great atmosphere, stay away from this place. I have given this place way too many chances, and they always fall short.

This place is basically Hooter's, but with different food. Just substitute the chicken wings with traditional bar food. I like the big screen TVs with sports always on, and the large bar was well staffed so not much wait time for drinks though they were busy. The bar tender was very knowledgeable and made some very tasty yet heavy handed cocktails. Walk-Ons is not trying to reinvent the wheel with their food menu, but the food they make they make well. I loved the boudain balls and cheese fries for appetizers, and my blackened alligator wrap was pretty good too. The down side of my trip to Walk-Ons was the wait time to be seated with our party of 8. Unluckily for us there was a private party that had all of the outside seating booked us, so there was only 2 tables in the entire place that would fit us. But, we made the best of it at the bar. All of the waitresses and bartenders were very friendly, and good customer service goes a long way in my opinion. And if the sports memorabilia, beers on tap, and TVs dont give you a clue of who their target audience is, the cute waitresses in short skirts and low cut tops should. (...also a plus in my opinion). If you're looking to catch a game on tv, recover from a hangover, or just have a few cold ones with friends, then this place will do just fine. It reminds me of Brewbachers (where we spent many weekend afternoons during baseball season while I was at LSU). This was my first time to Walk-Ons, and I'd recommend it to others. Just know what type of food you're going for, and don't have expectations of lobster and filet, and you'll be just fine.

I love this place. The staff is always friendly and the prices are great. They also do a good job of keeping the restaurant very clean. The back patio is an awesome place to hang out with a big group of friends anytime, but there isn't a better place to hang out in the entire SEC during football and baseball seasons.
Great scene as it is in close proximity to the LSU campus. They have different drink specials every night with plenty of TVs and a large bar area. The food is decent but a little pricey for the quality of cajun food that you get. I would try the Angels on Horseback: shrimp with oyster stuffed inside and wrapped in bacon. Deep. Fried. They do have huge portions.
(3)
Laura R.
Guess it depends on what you come for.... For food? It's nothing special. For the bar scene? It's cool. Lots of people, strong drinks, a bangin patio area, and karaoke nights. For game day? 5+ absurd amount of people and fun and they will feed you at which point you prob won't care about the food being a 2.

I cannot help but compare this review to Walk-Ons very own "Angel on Horseback." You see, this is why: it's because an "Angel on Horseback" is a delicious oyster that has a juicy strip of apple smoked bacon wrapped around it and if that wasn't enough, this entire prize is stuffed inside of a giant butterfly shrimp. The oyster is the atmosphere. I'm comforted by what I think is oak. I'm intrigued by the patio. I love sitting in the booths along the West end of the restaurant (tables 10-17) because I know the waiter assigned to this section appreciates being able to execute the world famous "2 bite checkback" with ease. The menu options are the apple smoked bacon. I like to think of burgers as my friends. I like it when my friends get dressed up in costumes. You can imagine how I feel when I see all the different options for burgers on this menu. Add to that the interesting salads and the impossible to not consider appetizers and you've got yourself a problem - SHOULD I ORDER OR LITERALLY MOVE IN TO THIS KITCHEN?? The cookie bowl sundae is the Butterfly Shrimp. It's what holds the building together. It's why the employees show up on time every time. It's warm cookies topped with cool ice cream and drizzled with warm chocolate syrup. The cookies are like the business plan - solid and necessary. The cool ice cream is the fun side - what makes a restaurant fun. The warm chocolate syrup is the Angels on Horseback.

In a location like this, this place should be MONEY! But it isn't. What type of restaurant serves pre-cooked, pre-frozen hamburger patties. How difficult is it to buy fresh meat and take the time to serve your customer a good, simple dish. I can't stand Applebees, Chiles, and the other franchises, but I understand that they "mass produce" food. There is no excuse for a locally owned establishment to serve crap. Don't waste your time in this place, go to McDonald's if you want a sub-par burger and fry combo.

This is a decent place, and enjoyable. Went here in May with company folks for dinner on a Monday night. Service is good, food is big, everything is clean. I think there are a lot of places with good food in Baton Rouge, though. We got an AYCE crawfish for the table and got a platter and a half. That was a good amount, but when we ordered the second round of AYCE, we were told they were running out, so they could only give us a half-order. Really, that was fine. And it wasn't like ONE person was ordering it. But AYCE is AYCE. I read in one review that they have 30 beers on tap. I think it's actually about TEN beers on tap, and that should be good for most places, but I don't understand why most places I went to have Abita, Bud, Coors, and Miller. Good selection of Abita here, but they were out of the IPA. Bummer. Sandwiches seem to be served on big dinner roll-style buns. I was not disappointed. Service, again, was excellent. Plenty of people here, but did not feel crowded. Not sure what it would be like on a game day.

Have absolutely no idea what the draw is for this place.... food has no flavor. make waitresses wear cheerleading outfits... is this the next hooters? sooooooo not impressed about anything. location on coursey is even less impressive. don't waste your money or your time.

I ate here. It kept me alive for another day. There was beer. Unfortunately, they decided not to turn up the volume on the Big Game. Normally, I don't really care about hockey, but the 4 other guys I was with were complaining. Complainers really bug the dog crap out of me. And the queso got cold pretty quick. Probably had something to do with the A/C being set to, like, 50 or something. Wait. Wait. Waitaminute. Is that The Big Game's volume I hear??? Oh my God! This place is the best! And Sarah totally hooked us up by keeping our glasses wet. And I had a salad anyway. Salads are supposed to make you cranky. I need a cigarette.

First off we called ahead to see if they had crawfish and they said they had plenty. When we got there they told us they didn't have any left. Was such a let down since my boyfriend is from out of town. Service was slow. They also ran out of sugar to put around the rim of a drink. Our meal also came out like 3 minutes after we got our appetizers. Food is really good. we got the cheese fries (best ever) boyfriend got the boom boom shrimp Poboy& he loved it. I got the chicken fingers which I wouldn't get again but their honey mustard dipping sauce is great.

Walk-On's is benefited by it's location, views and skimpy waitress uniforms. Let's face it...the food is terrible. The liquor selection is VERY limited and skewed toward people who don't care what's in their drink. Obviously they are making money off their target audience, but I have to wonder if trying a little harder wouldn't result in making even more money. Hell....I still go there and I don't even like the place!!

Being right on LSU's campus, this place is set up perfectly for gameday tailgating. They have a massive bar and ample tables, as well as an outdoor patio. Don't expect much from the food, although I've had excellent sweet potato fries and good duck&andoille gumbo. Service is hit or miss and they only employ ladies for the service, so when you come in with a table full of women, the service can lack because they know they're not going to be able to flirt their way to lots of money...that was painfully obvious the night we went to watch the opener LSU game. At one point I just told our waitress we would flag her down if we needed anything. I go here because other people want to go, but wouldn't go out of my way for a random dinner or casual drinks, this is a sports bar and they cater to those types.
(3)
Neda P.
When I first tried Walk-on the atmosphere was pretty nice and they have a great outdoor area where they have lots of events before a major game. The negative side of walk on is that the food is very similar to the chimes but does not taste as good. The prices are a little bit higher than the chimes restaurant and not as tasty.

I haven't been here since last year, which is probably going to be the last time I ever go for the food. Both of our entrees were super over cooked. I got grilled fish. How do you mess up grilled fish? My personal favorite were the boudin balls, which tasted like weird burnt ground beef. If you cut them in half, it was just solid black meat on the inside. We asked the waitress about it, and she told us that's how boudin balls are made in Louisiana. I'm from Baton Rouge, my boyfriend is from Vacherie - we know how they're made. Anyway, I know cooks have off nights, but we were more annoyed that the waitress was playing it off as good food. I wasn't in the mood to argue for a free meal or anything, so we just didn't eat our food, paid the bill, and didn't go back.

Update time...1st time in since the last time...stopped in with my niece after we left the Battle on the Bayou track meet hosted by LSU on 4/13/13.... It was pretty well packed at 3ish in the afternoon but we were seated immediately in the bar area and had prompt and friendly service... Started with an appetizer of "Angels on Horseback"...shrimp with a oyster wrapped around it and a bacon strip around both then deep fried....YUM! Damn tasty stuff...an order of those with a salad would make for a light and filling meal... My niece went with the Cajundillas...a quesadilla stuffed with chicken, andouille sausage and boudin...sounds good but the niece was NOT impressed! She said the combination of filling did not go well together...she blamed it on the chicken as she loves boudin and andouille...so if you're feeling adventurous maybe give it a try...I never will cause I don't care for boudin.... I went with the Hangover burger...Muy delicioso...that sunny side up egg and crisp bacon just makes the burger....I enjoyed it at the Walk On's in NOLA and damn sure enjoyed it here at the LSU location....the only drawback to it is too much bun and by that I mean it's too thick and fluffy...a slimmer bun would vault this burger into the pantheon of all time best burgers.... If you find yourself over near Alex Box Stadium or Burbank Drive close to LSU stop on in and satisfy your hunger they'll have something on the menu to fill you up....

The atmosphere screams typical sports bar with lots of TVs. The do have an excellent selection of beer on tap with about 30 different brews on tap. The food was a surprise though. The three guys I was with each raved about their meals: hang-over burger, the stuff burger, and a grilled mahi-mahi all with fries. Each one said good things about the fries. I had the duck and sausage gumbo. Very flavorful not too hot. I also had the Ahi Tuna Salad. Colorful and very good. It was a welcome, fresh tasting alternative to the typical bar fare. Our waitress, Taylor, was very friendly and helpful pointing out the highlights of the menus, making sure our drinks were full and we were taken care of

So they can fry some things and make a good meal. I think this restaurant is great. I like that they have waffle fries with their meal. However I don't think it's the best compared to other places I've been to. Seafood and sandwiches are good.

Not sure of the appeal of this place. Noisy with more than 30 large screen TVs tuned to about 6 sports channels. Lots of beers on tap and mediocre food. Pretty good waffle and sweet potato waffle fries were the best things we had. Lots of waitresses dressed in cheerleader outfits. People aren't going here for the food.

Nothing great. The pushed appetizer, BoomBoom Shrimp, was unappetizing. It was just small frozen breaded shrimp fried and sauced. We did not even finish the 8 or so we were brought. Neither of our entrees were very good. Everything was average at best. Lots of pretty waitresses. We were here on August 6, 2013

Nice location, too crowded on game day. Of course all the LSU decor is cool. Food was pedestrian, but the fried pickles were pretty good. Co-ed hostesses and waitresses were easy on the eyes. A-OK for atmosphere and the pickles.

Another great spot to hangout during football season for home games, if you can get in. Good food and the wait staff are awesome. Make sure you start off with the hush puppies for an appetizer and don't forget to have an Abita Purple Haze...

I ordered the Cajundilla and it was nothing too special, especially for the price it came with. I enjoyed my friend's Catfish Acadiana a LOT better so I would probably order that the next time I come to Walk Ons. What definitely gave it the 4 stars was the Choco-tini!!! This is now a drink that I will order every time I go to Walk Ons. There is no question about it and you have to order it if you are a true chocoholic! And for the first time ever, I tried my very first Blackened and Fried Alligator and it tasted like chicken! Except the texture was a little tough. Overall, it was really good for an appetizer.

My only experience with Walk-Ons so far was a Friday night when they had a live band playing outside. It was really crowded, yet there were a few beer/mixed drink counters outside which kept the drink lines short. Appreciated that for once a bar actually staffed appropriately for the amount of people that were there. I just got bottled beer so I can't really speak for their drinks, but the outdoor atmosphere was fun, and their bathrooms are super clean so that counts for something! It's just not my kind of bar clientele-wise, hence the 3 stars.

I love Walk-On's! I spent a lot of time here during my internship this summer, and it was the first place I went to for lunch over the weekend when I was visiting LSU. I had been craving their gator wrap for a while. The atmosphere is nice, especially for a sports bar. I wouldn't mind if the waitresses dressed a little bit nicer, though. Really, I have no problem with bars who encourage their waitresses to look sexy. However, I feel like the girls at walk-on's fall a little bit short of sexy and unfortunately don't quite make it out of skank zone. I think that's my only problem with the place. The food is excellent- granted I'm not a native Louisianain, so I can't gauge how authentic it is. Besides the gator wrap, I LOVE the angels on horseback! Oysters stuffed with shrimp, wrapped in bacon and deep fried? What's not to love??

Ate here the other day by suggestion from my father. He ate here for a co-employees birthday party. So I decided to give it a try too. Hostess was friendly as we entered. Quick to be seated, not many patrons at all in the restaurant, almost empty. It was just after lunchtime on a weekday. I liked how the booths were highbacked for privacy yet you could still look in any direction and see a tv up on the wall. I counted 32 but the hostess said there were more in back on the back patio!!! wow!!, that's a lot of tv's in one restaurant!! My father ordered the Catfish Acadiana which the waitress said was a wise choice. ?? dunno what that meant. And it came with a side salad. I started to order an appetizer (Crab Claws) but the waitress said they had run out of Crab Claws an hour ago. So I settled for the safe Spinach and Artichoke Dip. Then I chose the safe soup and salad combo but the waitress tells me they were out of the delicious sounding Lump Crab and Brie Soup on their menu. So I finally settled for a shrimp poboy which comes with waffle fries, and a cup of Crab and Corn Soup which seemed like a safe combo as well. I was a little disgruntled that they were out of so much stuff on their menu. I could understand if it had been something strange like the alligator meat, but simple things like the crab claws and lump crab and brie soup? hmm... Anyway, after a few minutes our appetizer came. It was hot melty goodness in a flat wide platter with a handle. Cute little dish to serve in! The dip came with these chips that were half moon shaped mystery chips. Either they were pita bread toasted or fried crisp, or they were thick tortillas cut into half moons and fried as well. They were definitely not baked but still extremely yummy and homemade. They were sprinkled with parmesan. Very very excellent!..and hot!! (with heat). Then his side salad came along with my cup of soup. His salad looked ok. Standard. My soup, however, thumbs down. The corn was cooked nicely but the crabmeat, well, there was just way too much of it in there. The soup was watery, not at all creamy, which made me understand that it was previously frozen and not fresh. Not only the wateriness made me think it was previously frozen, but the temperature of the soup was room temperature. When I finally could get the waitress to come over to our table (she was nowhere to be seen for awhile in an almost empty restaurant), I asked her to take the soup back and reheat it. The crab in it was kind of sad. It's texture was almost grainy. Again, another sign of previously frozen. Fish texture breaks down when frozen then thawed quickly. Sometime becoming grainy. I wouldn't order this again, at least not at this location. Then our lunch entrees came. My father's Catfish Acadiana looked WAY good!..which he said it was! He's picky too! haha My Shrimp Poboy and waffle fries were hot and piled high! The waffle fries (which I looooove!) were barely crispy. I would describe as stiff but not crispy. However, they were hot and seasoned with just the right amount of cajun seasoning. The poboy was LOADED with nice sized shrimp (size of a dollar coin or bigger) which were fried perfectly. The shrimp were cooked perfectly to doneness. It was dressed with tomato, shredded lettuce, mayo, and a few pickles. It was a standard shrimp poboy but it was up there with the best of them on my list! It was pretty damn good! The bread was crispy-on-the-outside french bread and soft-on-the-inside. Even when I heated the other half the next day, after it sat in my refrigerator overnight, it was still decent! The waitress was friendly but not attentive at all. She was hard to find throughout our dining experience. We decided to give them another try another time but when we found out they have a new location that just opened up on Coursey Blvd., we decided to give that location the second try. We will be going back because I am dying to try the Lump Crab and Brie Soup!! that just sounds SO divine! I hope they don't disappoint. Stay tuned for another review coming soon on the other location!!! Because of the absence of certain menu items, mediocre service, and cold soup that should've been served hot, they get only 3 stars. Btw, nice LSU gear throughout the restaurant, mostly presented in the bar area from what I could see from our booth.

Yes this definately is where frat boys go to die. The food was bad, the service well they took our plates before we were done. Dont really need much more than that. They should call this Walk-Outs because thats what you should do before you even think of the menu.

(5)Meghan K.

Food is decent and served hot. Waitresses are friendly. Nice local place with good LSU crowd.
(3)Susannah B.
(4)Matt D.
Great afternoon happy hour. If you come for a big sporting event, make sure to get there early. Food is decent but hard to find anything remotely healthy on the menu.
(4)Emily S.
(1)William T.

(4)Michelle B.

(1)Nick M.
There are far better options in town for a taste of "Louisiana food." Burgers are always decent though The bad: mixed drinks are typically overpriced (and weak) for a sports bar, the aforementioned attractive waitstaff always seem like they are in a hurry to get you out
(3)Matt S.
The food there is barely edible. I think they order everything pre-made and just reheat it. The drinks are way overpriced and the wait staff is never attentive. If you're looking for great food and a great atmosphere, stay away from this place. I have given this place way too many chances, and they always fall short.
(1)Ryan H.
(4)Ronnie C.
I love this place. The staff is always friendly and the prices are great. They also do a good job of keeping the restaurant very clean. The back patio is an awesome place to hang out with a big group of friends anytime, but there isn't a better place to hang out in the entire SEC during football and baseball seasons.
(5)Adam F.
Great place to watch a game at Friendliest staff I have met since I've been in town from California Great flat screens, great crawfish étouffée 2 great bartenders by name were Sara and Alyssa
(5)Silvestre B.
(3)Laura R.
(3)Chris and Tami T.
(4)James Y.
(1)Jesse T.
(4)N M.
Have absolutely no idea what the draw is for this place.... food has no flavor. make waitresses wear cheerleading outfits... is this the next hooters? sooooooo not impressed about anything. location on coursey is even less impressive. don't waste your money or your time.
(1)Woody D.
Waitress was good, Food was ok, atmosphere and music was terrible! Always heard this place was a good spot but definitely not the case.
(2)Chris C.
(4)Brittany B.
(2)Jason C.
Very good food and staff. Recommended! Oh see why people flock here. Kudos on the big screen tv with the fishing show.
(4)Marcy S.
(1)Kelsey W.
(3)Neda P.
When I first tried Walk-on the atmosphere was pretty nice and they have a great outdoor area where they have lots of events before a major game. The negative side of walk on is that the food is very similar to the chimes but does not taste as good. The prices are a little bit higher than the chimes restaurant and not as tasty.
(3)Karli S.

The Krispy Kreme Bread Pudding is worth making the trip to Walk-ons! It is a must try!
(4)Joel M.

Mahi Mahi sand-o is the best I have ever had. Actually, all of the seafood was spectacular! I wish I was not just driving past this joint & lived closer!

Great place to grab a few beers and watch the game. The food is good and the service is great. It serves its purpose and my expectations.
